Baldur's Gate 3

Based on the tabletop RPG, Dungeons and Dragons, a group of adventurers infected by mind-flayer parasites must cooperate to survive while confronting gods, tyrants, and personal traumas. While the player’s character is a blank slate, may key male characters the player encounters are complex, emotionally expressive, and often defined by their intimate bonds. Companions openly discuss fear, shame, grief, and hope. Many storylines examine the damage done by abusive authority, rigid expectations, and cycles of violence. Players who choose vulnerability and empathy are frequently rewarded, but players are also able to choose violence and cruelty. Collaboration is essential to success, and caregiving, friendship, and emotional intimacy appear throughout companion interactions and romances. However, there is some variability in the extent to which these themes play out based on player choices in this branching narrative.
