Dominance Manhood

Some

Traits of dominance-based masculinity present in the media.

Questioning of Dominance

Many

Characters questioning or suffering from dominance norms.

Relational Manhood

Many

Traits of relational, connected masculinity.

The series treats emotional directness between men as unremarkable and natural; Men talk to each other about fear, grief, guilt, and hope without embarrassment. Ser Duncan the Tall’s entire character is structured around the rejection of power, status, and masculine performance in favour of care, integrity, and unglamorous loyalty to those weaker than himself. Dunk is provoked constantly and rarely retaliates until pushed to an ethical limit. He treats Egg as a partner despite him being a child. One of the strongest expressions of Relational Manhood to appear in the Game of Thrones franchise.
