Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Newt Scamander consistently rejects toughness, bravado, and aggression. His whole demeanour — soft-spoken, nurturing, awkward — is a quiet but clear rejection of dominant masculine norms, while also exhibiting deep courage, masterful competence, and readiness for action. At various points in the film, Jacob expresses wonder, fear, and vulnerability — and Newt responds with genuine warmth and understanding rather than dismissiveness.
