This is a romantic Korean drama that makes a strong argument for Relational Manhood. Somewhat unusually, it does so through contrast rather than just through its hero. Yong-pil is warm, community-rooted, and defined by quiet caregiving across eight years without recognition. His father, Sang-tae, presents a sustained, compassionate dissection of what happens when a man weaponises grief as control and anger. This is depicted with enough complexity that viewers debate whether to sympathize with him until the final episode. Yong-pil’s character is light on emotional directness and spoken vulnerability, though he notably speaks directly and names the years of harm his father’s resentment caused.
